Mrs. Merwin’s Newsletter
This week has really been exciting! We have learned so much about each other while learning our school routine.
Over the last few days we have created some beginning of the year pieces of work that you will see at our Open House night on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The Second Grade will also be hosting Grandparents’ Day on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:30; please remember to send in the slip for those Grandparents attending as soon as possible as wristbands for breakfast are limited and is on a first come first serve basis.
We will have a working snack in our classroom daily. This means that most often they will continue on working while they have a small snack. I ask that this snack is a healthy snack and does not consist of chips, candy, or desserts (cookies, cake, snack cakes) as it is still morning when they have snack. Please send in only water for snack as well. Students may keep a refillable water bottle here with their name on it to fill with our water fountain in class.
The students will have a spelling list each week that will be tested on Friday. Throughout the week they should practice spelling these words with you to ensure their success. They will also have a homework packet that will be sent home on Monday and is due back in class on Friday Morning. The expectation is that each student will practice their spelling words and complete their homework each week.
Our specials for this year are as follows:
Monday Art and Physical Education
Tuesday Library
Wednesday Music and Physical Education
Thursday Physical Education and Library
Friday Art
Please make sure you student has their sneakers on for our Physical Education days.
We have a busy year ahead of us, but we are off to a great start! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. My school e-mail is [email protected]. You may also send a note in your student’s agenda or call the school. I look forward to meeting you at our Open House.
Fondly,
Mrs. Merwin
